Milestone sessions are a fun, relaxed way to capture your baby’s growing personality and all the little details you never want to forget. Whether we’re celebrating six months, a new skill or that big first birthday, I’ll create a simple, beautiful session that keeps the focus right where it belongs—on your little one.
Milestone sessions take place in my Manhattan, Kansas studio, where I have a variety of backdrops, outfits, props and accessories available to make planning easy.

A $100 non-refundable retainer is required to reserve your session and is applied toward the package of your choice.
You'll receive your proof gallery within one week of your session. Once you've selected your favorite images, I'll complete the final edits and deliver your finished gallery within two weeks.

Planning Your Cake Smash
Once you’re booked, we’ll work together to choose the colors, theme and overall look for your baby’s cake smash. I’ll design a custom set that brings everything together beautifully, from the backdrop and details to the outfit and cake. Most families provide their little one’s outfit, and I’m happy to help with ideas or provide a coordinating option when available. I’ll also arrange a cake from my baker to complement the set, or you’re welcome to bring a cake of your own.
After the cake, we'll finish with a quick splash session. It's a fun way to clean up while capturing some of the best smiles, splashes and giggles of the entire session.
The Client Closet
My studio has a collection of outfits and accessories available for milestone sessions, making it easy to create a polished look without buying something your little one may only wear once.
Once your session is booked, I'll help you choose an outfit and coordinate it with the backdrop and overall look of your session.
Baby’s First Year
Your baby will change more in the first year than you can imagine. The First Year Plan makes it easy to preserve each stage—from those tiny newborn details to sitting, smiling and celebrating that very first birthday.
The plan includes a Deluxe Newborn Session, 6-Month Milestone Session and 1-Year Cake Smash Session, giving you a beautiful collection of photographs that tells the story of your baby’s entire first year.

When should I schedule a sitter session?
Sitter sessions are best scheduled once your baby can sit independently but before they're constantly on the move. This often happens around 6–9 months, but every baby develops at their own pace. Reach out when your little one is getting close and we'll choose the perfect time.
When is the best time to schedule my cake smash session?
I recommend booking your baby's first birthday session 1–2 months in advance, especially if you're planning a cake smash. If you'd like to have the finished images before the birthday party, we'll schedule the session a few weeks before your baby's actual birthday.
What if my baby doesn't smile?
That's okay! Every baby warms up differently, and we'll give your little one time to get comfortable. We'll play, make silly noises, take breaks and let their personality lead the session. Some of my favorite images aren't big smiles at all—they're the curious looks, serious expressions and little details that feel completely like your baby.
Do you provide the set design?
Yes! Once you’re booked, you’ll complete a planning questionnaire so we can choose the colors, theme and overall look for your baby’s cake smash. Whether you already have a specific idea in mind or need a little inspiration, I’ll help bring everything together and create a custom set that feels personal to your little one.
Do you provide the cake?
Yes! I work with a baker who creates cakes specifically for my cake smash sessions, and I’ll coordinate the cake to complement your set design. If your baby has food allergies or dietary restrictions, please let me know when booking. You’re also welcome to provide your own cake if you prefer.
Do you provide coordinated outfits for cake smashes?
Most families provide their little one’s outfit, and I’m happy to help you choose something that coordinates beautifully with the set. I also have a collection of outfits available in the studio and may have an option that works perfectly with your theme.
You’re welcome to use one outfit for traditional birthday portraits and another for the cake smash.
Are families included in milestone and cake smash sessions?
Milestone and cake smash sessions are designed for one child. Because cake smash sets are created specifically for your little one and babies tend to have short attention spans, family and sibling portraits are not included in these sessions.
If you’d like updated family portraits as well, I’d be happy to help you plan a separate family session.
Are outfits provided for milestone sessions?
I do have a client closet with several beautiful handmade outfits that I use to match backdrops but you may also bring your own outfits. Ultimately, the outfits used are your choice.
When should I expect to get my gallery?
You’ll receive your proof gallery within one week of your session. Once you’ve selected your favorite images, I’ll complete the final edits and deliver your finished gallery within two weeks.
Do I need to bring anything?
I'll have the backdrop, props and studio accessories ready when you arrive. Depending on your session, you may only need to bring your child's outfit, favorite snack or comfort item and anything sentimental you'd like to include. I'll send you preparation information before your session so you'll know exactly what to bring.
What if my baby doesn't smash the cake?
Don't worry—every baby reacts differently! Some dive right in while others carefully poke, taste or want nothing to do with the cake. We'll let your baby lead the way. The goal isn't a perfectly messy cake smash; it's capturing their personality and reaction to the experience.
