Kirstie & Zaylee's Outdoor Portrait Session
There’s something so special about photographing the bond between a mother and her daughter, and this session with Kirstie and her sweet girl, Zaylee, was no exception. We met near Tuttle Creek Lake in the heart of the Flint Hills—one of my favorite spots for its rolling green views and wide-open skies.
The weather gave us such a unique backdrop that day. With cool winds and moody clouds moving in, it felt almost magical. The breeze caught their hair and dresses, adding movement and drama to the photos. Some moments were playful, as they twirled and hugged, while others slowed down as they wrapped up together in a blanket to stay warm.
What I loved most, though, was capturing their connection. Kirstie is a devoted mama, and it’s clear that Zaylee is her whole world. Whether she was snuggled close in her mom’s arms or joyfully picking wildflowers and dancing in the grass, Zaylee’s sweetness shone through every frame.
Kirstie wore a dress from my client closet, which is always available for outdoor and studio sessions. I love being able to provide wardrobe options that make mamas feel beautiful and allow them to relax and enjoy their time with their kids.
This session was extra special for me because I’ve had the privilege of photographing Kirstie and Zaylee since she was a newborn. Seeing them again while they were back in Manhattan visiting family felt like picking up right where we left off. Their bond has only grown stronger, and it was such an honor to capture this season of their lives.
If you’ve been thinking about booking a session, let this be your sign. These fleeting moments with your little ones deserve to be remembered—the laughter, the cuddles, the in-between moments you never want to forget. I’d love to help you capture them.
